Hi,

I guess my question will sound very unusual to you, but I would greatly appreciate if you could help me -please... I'm doing a PhD on gender in English, and I'm looking for examples of objects referred to as 'he' or 'she'. So what I would have liked to know is, do you (or other members of the Society) ever use 'he' or 'she' when you discuss gems, and opals in particular ?

And of course, any other ideas would be appreciated as well -eg. tools you would use to handle or mine opals, your car/van, ... ?

Again, I would be very grateful if you could send me a reply, as this kind of examples is very difficult to find. Thank you all very much in advance !

Regards

Laura
