A deposit of hyalite opal in southern Idaho yields crystal clear pieces large enough to facet. Has anyone had experience with faceting this type of opal? This deposit does not fluoresce under LW or SW light as is reported for other locations in the US and Europe. The material has been exposed on the surface for centuries and should be stable for cutting. It also has flashes of magenta, yellow, blue and green so I suppose that orientation of the stone to optimize the color display is important.
