We would like to warn people that peruvian blue opal in most grades currently is getting harder and harder to find and thus there are many overseas manufacturers and at Tuscon and gem shows selling dyed mine run blue opals ( which are normally whittish in color with none or little color) looking like aquamarine color or blue topaz color in beads and cabs and all over ebay and the internet at cheap prices. In addition these unscroupulous people are also importing tonnages of dyed brazilian agte with excellent color to lower color blue and blue grreens and sselling such as peruvian blue opal or blue-opal chalcedony and there is a whole host of synthetics being sold including Victoria stone as peruvian blue opal. People should buy only from direct sources of peruvian blue opal who mine and manufacture the product directly in Peru , etc. Peruvian Blue Opal is now going the route of amethyest due to incresed deamnds for color in it and little supply from miners in Peru.
