If your opal hasen't crazed, you have something great! The other requirements for a good find are fire content, clarity, and pieces large enough in size to make cabachons. My first thought about the other minerals are that they might just be strange forms of quarts crystals. The first test would be a hardness test to see if they are the same as quartz (7 on the mohs scale). The second test would be crystal habit to see if they have a hexagonal cross section. Also look for a conchoidal fracture, indicating a lack of cleavage (a very good test for quartz). The University of Arizona Geology department,in Tuscon would be a very good place to obtain a positve identification of your unknown minerals.
