Ted, I'm a gemologist and a Fellow of the Gemmological Association of Great Britain and the London Trade Laboratory. I've done research on opal structure and was in the bnusiness. I have no financial interest in your opal find, but I live in Arizona and I would be pleased to offer whatever professional service I have at my command, pro bono. If you can be reached by phone I will call you. It would seem that a report in the gemological literature would be very helpful in introducing your material to the gem market. A report on physical properties of your opal is what the gem business would want. Durable opal with a high play of color commands phenomenal prices. I wish you the best in this endeavor. Bill Kelley
