Subject: curing royal peacock opals |
i have heard about 10 different ways to cure opals from the Royal Peacock mines in the Virgin Valley, nv. from mineral oil soaks, a bucket of sand and water, to paper towels in the closet. im not sure what is the right way or wrong way. i got some beautiful specimens and am kinda stuck on how to go about it, (without destroying the opal)
also, is it true you can seal them with a type of epoxy so you can skip the curing process or is this a rumor as well??
please help. im willing to wait the 1-5 years necessary to cure if i know i will have a piece in good shape and not all crazed and cracked.
